Despite the recent easing, the property market is expected to have another record highs as asking prices edged over the $2 million mark.

• Acc. to Trade Me, March 2014 was the time that would-be house hunters missed their shot to get into the Auckland property market.

• The website’s data shows that since that time, the average asking price in the city has increased more than $250,000, or 45.6%.

• In the 3 years since March 2014, every suburb has had an avg. price of over $500k – the top 10 fastest rising suburbs include 3 on Waiheke Island, plus Omaha & Newmarket.

• Meanwhile, prices in other parts of NZ are still rising strongly – 12 out of the 15 regions reported increases in asking prices in March 2017.
