• Finance Minister has announced to pump $11bn into infrastructure in the next 4 years, on top of the $4bn May budget, focusing primarily on housing.
• He said the gov’t has been spending $6.5bn, & the announcement of new money would mean that level of spending would be maintained.
• The increased infrastructure spending is driven by unexpectedly strong economic growth making New Zealand an attractive place to work and live.
• However, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters described the announcement as opportunism in a bid to get re-elected.
