Christchurch is starting to see an over-supply of housing, particularly terraced homes, as the market softens.

• Rows of attached housing built to provide cheaper housing sit awaiting buyers in Christchurch, where many of them are at marked down prices.

• The mark down has been confirmed by Trade Me stating that asking prices for attached townhouses are flat or falling in the city.

•  Urban Edge valuer says Christchurch house prices levelling off meant first-home buyers could afford free-standing homes instead.

• With a kind of over-supply of housing starting to happen, stand alone houses are coming back a bit in price, making attached units less popular.
