The Government is spending $6M a day of taxpayers’ money to address housing need & help Kiwis who need emergency housing.

• A total of $550M is spent in the first quarter putting a roof over Kiwis’ heads – but the waiting list for houses is still getting bigger.

• The Government paid $8.8M on emergency housing Special Needs Grants, $33M on putting homeless people up in motels & $33M worth of grants to struggling families.

• The Labour Party is slamming the latest emergency housing grants figures as “a very expensive band aid”.

• She says the latest figures “underscore the importance of their plan to grow the number of social houses available, from 66,000 to 72,000 over the next 3 years”.
